Project Quality Manager

Ensure the monitoring of quality of the work in accordance with the Quality Plan, contractor’s method statements and inspection and test plans on assigned projects.
Ensure that a comprehensive record of documentation and certification of work is being progressively maintained and assist in the satisfactory handover of the completed plant to the client.
Establishment and maintenance of a safe working environment within the position’s sphere of influence. Ensure the Project H&S Culture is promoted at all times and that the project quality team operates within the H&S Management Plan.
Implement, coordinate and supervise the quality control program on assigned projects.
Establish project quality control programs for construction, consistent with design standards and specifications, Client requirements and standards, codes and local regulations and good practices.
Allocate responsibilities and supervise the activities of all QC personnel within the quality control group.
Ensure adequate Inspection personnel are available to maintain a satisfactory level of QC on the Project. Coordinate inspection and test groups.
Advise the Business Unit Quality Manager of QC problems and prepare technical data for satisfactory resolution. Ensure that the resolution of QC problems is implemented.
Advise the Business Unit Quality Manager on a monthly basis of QC activities and prepare associated reports to support the weekly /monthly management reports.
Prepare and deliver site quality control inductions to all personnel charged with performing quality control functions and endorsing quality related verifying documents.
Ensure that work procedures and QC verifying documents (check sheets) conform to the Client specified requirements and devise new QC verifying documents as required for activities not captured by the standard suit of documents.
Provide quality related technical assistance and code/specification interpretation support to all project personnel and the Construction Contractors as and when required.
Responsible for the overall organization and management of the project audit program and reporting any actions that arise from audit findings; identifying and scheduling audits to be carried out; and the identification / selection of the Auditees, Audit Team Leaders, Auditors and scope of audits.
Analyse trends identified by the project reporting mechanisms and advise the Business Unit Quality Manager and supervisory staff on corrective measures.
Review and accept the Contractors quality plans and procedures.
Attend Client initiated QC meetings, contract kick-off meetings and when directed by the Business Unit Quality Manager, internal Management meetings and Construction Contractor progress meetings.
Act as a focal point for all new and revised/modified QC verifying documents to ensure that data duplication is avoided and the formatting/content of the verifying documents is in line with project requirements.
Organize off site inspections relating to orders placed on site and liaise with off site project personnel and fabrication companies to ensure that quality objectives are understood and are being met.
Devise, implement and maintain a quality award scheme for contractors.
Ensure that construction staff is fully aware of current QC procedures.
Maintain a list of quality issues encountered during the execution of the works or raised by the client and include in the database for consideration on future projects.
Controls and reviews the Quality Control Record filing system and the input of the same into the Turnover System Tracking Report.
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to Minerals and Metals.
Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for Minerals and Metals. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
Excellent time management, communication skills, computer literacy and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of Canadian and international codes and standards applicable to the Minerals & Metals industry.
Good understanding and appreciation of engineering design principles associated with process related equipment.
10-15 years experience in QA/QC Management/Supervisory/Coordination role preferably within a Minerals & Metals environment.
Quality Management Systems Assessor/Lead Assessor/Auditor Certificate or similar.
Bachelor of Engineering is desirable.
Reporting and Location:
The position reports to Business Unit Director of Quality & Risk Management.
